FEFCO 04 series: folders and wraps

The 04 series covers boxes folded from one piece without a manufacturer's joint, from wrap-around blanks to die-cut mailers.

What the series has in common

  • Most 04 styles are die-cut, so they need tooling but can carry locks, tucks and rolled walls.

Styles in this series

CodeNameClosure
0406Wrap-around blankFormed and glued by a wrap-around case packer; the joint is not made until the case closes.
0410Five panel folderGlue or tape the fifth panel to the side it covers; tape the ends if needed.
0427Roll end tray with locking coverThe tuck flap locks into the front wall. Tape or a tear strip is optional for parcel shipping.
0406 Wrap-around blank
A wrap-around blank is folded tightly around the product by a machine, so the box is formed and closed in the same step. The result is essentially an RSC lying on its side, with an unbroken top and bottom and the joint made last. Good for high-speed lines packing rigid products such as cans, bottles or cartons.
0410 Five panel folder
A five panel folder is one cut and scored piece with a fifth panel that closes over one side. Its end flaps fold in layers, so each end carries several thicknesses of board, which suits long, thin items that would push through a normal box end. Good for long items of small cross-section: rods, tubes, blinds, posters.
0427 Roll end tray with locking cover
The roll end tray with locking cover is the die-cut mailer: a single die-cut piece with an unbroken bottom, double-thickness end walls rolled over from the base, and a lid that tucks and locks. It needs no tape to stay shut and opens like a presentation box. Good for subscription and ecommerce mailers.
