Pallet pattern and cube calculator

Find how many cases fit per layer on a pallet, how many layers fit under a height limit, and how much of the load space the cases fill.

Calculator

Case outside, in (L × W × H)
Pallet deck, in

Defaults are assumptions: a 48 × 40 deck, 5.5 in tall, loaded to 60 in.

40 cases

Per layer8
Patterntwo-zone (2 rows turned)
Layers5
Load height58 in
Deck area covered84%
Load space filled80%

How it works

  1. Tries both case orientations and every two-zone split (a run of rows one way, the rest turned).
  2. Layers = ⌊(height limit − deck height) ÷ case height⌋.
  3. Cube used = cases × case volume ÷ (deck area × usable height).

Results are estimates for planning. Confirm critical packs by test. Full method.

Reading the result

Enter the case's outside dimensions. A case that is a whole fraction of 48 or 40 in usually loads with no waste; anything else is worth trying in both orientations, which the tool does for you.

Compare deck coverage between candidate sizes. Low coverage means air you pay to ship in a trailer, and a case that overhangs the deck loses compression strength along that edge.
